FAMILY CHOIR

Perfect for Teens, College Students, Parents, and Grandparents!
Requirements: ability to read music and sing parts
Call for RSVPs for Family Choir!
It's that time again - time to RSVP for Family Choir! This year we are doing a new work by a familiar composer: "Night of the Father's Love" by Pepper Choplin with orchestral accompaniment. In Pepper Choplin's masterful hands, the Christmas Story renews its hold on our hearts in this beautiful oratorio. We've moved the performance date closer to Christmas this year to make it easier for our college students to join us.
We are presenting this great oratorio, complete with 7-piece orchestra, during the Evensong Service on Wednesday, Dec. 21st. The idea here is that you bring at least one person (preferably of another generation) from your own family or someone else's to sing with you (they can be of a different vocal part than your own). Of course I'm not going to turn you away if you show up alone, but it will be a much livelier group if everyone brings someone. The more the merrier! If you are new to our church community, this is a fun way to get to know people.
The only requirement is that you be able to read music and sing parts. It's probably too difficult for children younger than 6th grade unless they are quite advanced for their age musically. The time commitment is small, only three rehearsals and a performance, but it is a commitment. You need to come to all the rehearsals and spend a little time outside rehearsal listening to the CD which I will give you. But the music is beautiful, so that shouldn't be a problem!
Here is our schedule:
Saturday, December 10th and Saturday, December 17th
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, December 20th
7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Rehearsal with Orchestra
Wednesday, December 21st
Evensong Service
7:00 p.m.
Please RSVP to me (e-mail is best) so that I can get you a book and CD. I'll also put you on my e-mail list so you will be reminded about rehearsals and other details. I welcome alumni from the past two years and hope to have many new voices as well.
I'm looking forward to having a great time with all of you and so excited that WPC has given us this terrific, rare opportunity to sing with instrumentalists. I know that Family Choir made the entire Christmas season much more meaningful for everyone who has participated in the past. I hope it will do the same for you!

On Christmas Eve, the Carol Choir performs a musical at the 5:00 p.m. service. In 2010, we presented “The Christmas S.O.C.C.E.R. Team”. The Carol Choir’s performance on Christmas Eve is always a lot of fun and is eagerly anticipated and enjoyed by the WPC congregation.
We also sing regularly in church, plus we will be presenting a Spring Musical this year, “Happily Forever After”, at the “Mother’s Day Dinner Theater”. “Happily Forever After” is full of Princesses, castles and dragons and will help us learn about the Kingdom of God. It’s not too late to be part of this special musical!

MOTHER’S DAY DINNER THEATER
Watch your bulletin for announcements about this fun, church-wide event on “Mother’s Day Eve”. This year, the Carol Choir will present “Happily Forever After” and WPC Glee will present “American Ideal”. Two musicals and a scrumptious Italian dinner—what could be more fun? We hope to see you there!
WPC GLEE

Open to Girls and Boys, Grades 6—12
Rehearsal: Sundays, 9:15—10:00 a.m.
Location: WPC Library
Are you one of the millions of middle and high school students who wish they could sing in a choir? Well you can with just these few simple steps:
-Step out of your comfort zone
-Step out of your front door
-Step into choir rehearsal!
You don’t have to audition. You don’t have to know how to read music, and you don’t have to know how to sing, you’ll learn these skills in the WPC Glee Choir.
You DO have to WANT to sing and WANT to praise God with your voice!
We sing in church regularly as well as being responsible for the music for the 8:00 p.m. service on Christmas Eve.
This year we will also be presenting “American Ideal” - a parody of “American Idol” - in which we learn about humility, at the Mother’s Day Dinner Theater.
All that, plus we have a blast together!
