"What About Other Religions?"
John 14:6; Acts 17:16–33
- What are some reasons why people think Christians are "intolerant" toward other religions?
- Why is the view "all religions are pretty much the same" a problem?
- What is unique about the gospel vis a vis other religions?
- What is the difference between knowledge of something and arrogance about something? Is it arrogant and unloving to believe you are right and others wrong about some humanly important matter?
- Why is keeping one's religion "to oneself" a problem?
- Read Acts 17:16-33. How doe the apostle Paul approach sharing the gospel in a pluralistic context? How might his approach be applied in your context?
- Read John 14: 1-14 for the context for v. 6. Read as well John 1:1-5 and reflect on who Jesus is. How does Jesus' ministry answer the problem of "arrogance" and "intolerance"?
- Dallas Willard states, "Where there is really a way to God, where there really is truth about God, where there is genuine life of God, Christ is there." What might this mean for our conversations about and with other religions?
