Questions for Reflection - "O Come, O Come Emmanuel
"Stumped"

Isaiah 11:1–10; Romans 15:7–13

  1. What does it mean to be "stumped"? When have you experienced this?
  2. Read Isaiah 6:9-13; 10:1-4. Why is Israel in trouble? What "dream" seems to have come to an end?
  3. Using John Muir's experience on that dangerous rock face as an illustration, talk about a time when you were able to become "un-stuck", (un-stumped). How did this come about? Where others involved?
  4. Read Isaiah 11:1-10. What is God's idea? How is this described? What part of this have we seen fulfilled? What remains to be fulfilled?
  5. What are some of the implication of what Isaiah prophecies for where we go from here? How does this relate to the ministries of WPC?
  6. Read together Romans 15:12,13 and talk about what is Jesus attempting us to see at his Table? How does the Lord's Table help you to know where you go from here?
