Questions for Reflection - "Unlocking Doors"

Isaiah 22:22; Revelation 3:7,14–20

  1. What keys do you have on your key chain? What authorizations and responsibilities do they represent? What did it take to have them?
  2. What "keys" are you looking for today? What are you trying to "unlock"?
  3. Why is "Key of David" such an effective name for Jesus Messiah? How is Jesus like a "Chicago warden boss"? How has he helped you?
  4. Read the passages in Revelation. What does it take to open the "door" in Philadelphia? In Laodicea? Does it make sense to say that there are locks on both sides of the door? What form do these locks take?
  5. What does it mean to say that the "key" is in the shape of a cross? What did Jesus unlock?
  6. What is your response when you hear the angel's message, "Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you but hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me"?
  7. Conclude with prayer which is your answer to Jesus' invitation. What do you want to say to him? Will you say this through the door, or will you open and say this face to face?

God loves you.
