Questions for Reflection - "Re-Thinking God"

Luke 6:1–11

1. Read over Luke 5 and look for ways Jesus surprises the people around him. What assumptions does he call into question?
2. What seemed to be the attitude of the Pharisees toward Jesus? Why?
3. How have you experienced "mindsets" and how people get treated as a result?
4. How do you think about "sabbath"? How important is sabbath compared to its "competitors" for your time?
5. Check Exodus 20:8–11 and Deuteronomy 5:12–15. Do these teachings still have application today? Why?
6. What kind of a "lever" does Jesus use on the religious leaders in 6:6-11? Does it work?
7. What new thinking has Jesus caused in you with this teaching?
