Questions for Reflection - Inspired - "The Power of Prayer"

  1. What if the power of prayer was in how you prayed? Would it matter to whom you prayed? Who do we sometimes find ourselves praying to?
  2. Read the passage and note its background (vv. 1-10). Who is the One to Whom we pray?
  3. What makes prayer powerful?
  4. What does it mean to cry, "Abba, Father"? Why is this something only a person indwelt by the Holy Spirit can say? What does it mean to be "adopted"?
  5. Talk about your experiences in prayer as "crying" and "sighing". Who or what are you praying for when you pray this way? Is it surprising to you to think about the Spirit of Christ praying with you this way? What do you suppose He is accomplishing?
  6. Read v. 27. Talk about the implications for prayer of the phrase, "according to the will of God".
  7. When do you most like to pray? What helps you?
