  1. Why are we sometimes tempted to dismiss God's answers to our prayers?
  2. How do you need God to demonstrate God's love for you?
  3. What is your first reaction to how Matthew begins his gospel (vv. 1-17)? What two vital truths does this genealogy convey?
  4. Look up some of the references on these characters from the Old Testament. What are their stories? What do they learn, or not learn? What comes through to you about how God fulfills God's promise?
