If we were to wake up every morning and tell ourselves, “I live on the other side of the Christmas moment,” we would live with a renewed sense of awe.
Christmas is not just a date on the calendar or a story we revisit once a year. It is the moment when eternity entered time, when God took on flesh and dwelt among us. To live on the other side of that moment means we are no longer waiting for Emmanuel to arrive — He has come, and He is with us still.
John 1:14 declares: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
We would live with assurance. No matter the uncertainty of our day, we would remember that God has already stepped into human history, and into our own story.
We would live with gratitude. Every ordinary moment — work, family, rest — becomes sacred because Christ has sanctified human life by sharing it.
We would live with courage. The Incarnation means we are never alone. We can face disappointment, suffering, and even death with hope, because God has already entered them and overcome.
We would live with purpose. On the other side of Christmas, we are sent people. Just as the shepherds ran to tell what they had seen, we carry the good news into our neighborhoods, workplaces, and families.
We would live in awe. Each day becomes a chance to marvel at the mystery of God-with-us, to be humbled by His nearness, and to worship with joy.
To wake each morning with that truth is to live as people of Advent fulfilled: not just waiting, but living right here, in this world, with Emmanuel — God with us.
