Growing up in a small, tight-knit family, my parents were always there for me. We attended church every Sunday and I participated in Sunday School, and the Jr. High and Senior High youth groups. I even attended a church-related camp on the Mexican border in Arizona. Earlier I had gotten home-sick at a week-long YMCA camp but my experience on the Border could not last long enough!
Now my parents are gone. They were always there for me, to talk, to guide me, ready to dig in to help me with all I asked. Now I fully understand the verses in Isaiah 66:12-13 and reach out to God as my ever-present and loving "parent." Having been on my own most of my adult life, I truly believe that God is there for me at any moment and ready to listen. The advent season is a good time to turn to him! He is there for us ALL.
Let us always remember that we have a loving "parent" in God above. Amen
