Dear Church,
This society is stuffed and overcrowded. We are surrounded by the everyday struggles of life, and people are making less and less room for church. There are things like podcasts and digital church videos and social media that people turn to instead of the physical church. People are starting to take the understanding that church is a thing of the past.
We are taking this too hard, blaming it on ourselves and our ways of welcoming. We must ask ourselves, “What can I do?”
As a congregation, we can stay open. Open to people who have never entered the church doors before, to children who curse the Lord’s name and need guidance. To kids of middle school and high school age, who don’t know what to do with their lives. To people who have just experienced great tragedies and need to grieve. We can stay open and wait and hope for the day when society makes more room for us.
Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with song I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. ― Psalm 28:6-8
